State of the Union - Damsels
Come see The Damsels first show of the year, State of the Union. The Damsels are a Denver based contemporary dance company dedicated to raising awareness for issues women face in the US today. Show times are Saturday March 5th at 8pm and Sunday March 6th at 5pm.
Tickets will be $15 and can be purchased online here.
All proceeds will benefit The Gathering Place, Denver's only daytime drop in center for homeless women, their children, and transgender individuals.

This week's NLL.com Girl of the Week, Alexis, hails from the Wild Bunch in Colorado. Kelsey recently weighed in with NLL.com on a variety of different subjects, ranging from the fans at the Pepsi Center to Brian Langtry's flow.

NLL.com: Where did you go to school?
Alexis: I graduated from Grandview High School! Go Wolves! I studied Special Education at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
NLL.com: Where do you currently reside?
Alexis: In Denver, the best city in the WORLD!
NLL.com: What dancing experience do you have? How did you get started?
Alexis: I started dancing when I was 13 years old at Dance Intensity! I was trained in Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Poms. Hip Hop is my favorite style of dance. I was also on the Poms squad in high school.
NLL.com: What do you do when you're not cheering on the Mammoth at the Pepsi Center?
Alexis: I also Volunteer at the Johnson Adult Day Program, a program for individuals who have neurological changes and physical disabilities. It is so much fun! I get to dance and sing songs all day and be a goof ball with some amazing people!
NLL.com: How would you describe yourself? How do you think friends would describe you?
Alexis: I would describe myself as very outgoing and hardworking. My friends would probably describe me as very energetic and say that no matter where I am or if there is music or not I am always dancing!!
NLL.com: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Alexis: My biggest pet peeve would probably be rude people. I believe that having a kind heart and a genuine attitude is worth far more than a pretty face.
NLL.com: What is your favorite part of cheering on the Mammoth?
Alexis: The energy from the fans. We really do have the best fans in the league. Hearing them cheer the Wild Bunch and the team on really makes all the hard work preparing for the games worth it!
NLL.com: Who is your favorite Mammoth player? Any reason in particular?
Alexis: I would probably pick Mac Allen because he is in Law school, and a professional athlete. I think the fact that he is able to balance both is a really admirable accomplishment. It's really awesome, we have such a well-rounded group of guys out there. However, Brian Langtry does come in a close second because of his "sick flow."
NLL.com: What's the best part of the NLL?
Alexis: The fan loyalty! NLL games are much different from other sports because the same fans show up every game to cheer us on. We get to know the fans, and they get to know us. It's a much closer bond I feel than some of the other sports get. Sort of like a big, huge, loud rowdy family. I love it!
NLL.com: If you could say one thing to the fans in Colorado, what would it be?
Alexis: You are the absolute best! You are the reason I show up every single day! I appreciate every single fan that voted for me, and that comes to the games! I love you guys!! Go Mammoth!
NLL.com: Finish the sentence. The Wild Bunch is...
Alexis: Not as wild as you would think! We actually are all very professional at practice, and work very hard. We have a great group of 14 talented, beautiful, smart and loving girls! We all get along so well, and really help each other out. I am so proud of the girls I work with out on that field!

Alexis: With my family!

Alexis: My step-mom Kathy. She is the most amazing person in the world!

2011 Denver Broncos Cheerleader Auditions begin Sunday April 3, 2011!

Yes, it is that time of year again! Auditions are right around the corner and I wanted to fill everyone in on the details for 2011 as well as dates, times, workshops and everything you will need to know to prepare you to have the best audition possible.
For 2011, the audition will select 26 members to the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and select 10 women to the Denver Outlaws Dance Team. The Outlaws Dance Team is open to women ages 18 and up. Both teams will be selected from the finalists from the audition process. The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders will only select women 21 and up by the deadlines listed on the audition forms (PDF).
The process will be very similar to last season's audition. Our preliminary round will consist of a short combination (4 eight counts) of basic dance technique. A turn, a leap, right and left kicks and simple choreography will be taught on the spot and participants will perform that combination for the judges in groups of three. After all participants have performed, 100 participants will be selected to move on that day to the Semi-Finals.
During the Semi-Final round, the participants will be taught a routine very similar to routines performed on game day by the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. Again, the choreography will be taught on the spot and the semi-finalists will perform in groups of 3 for our panel of judges. The field will be narrowed down to 60-70 women who will be our finalists for both the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and the Denver Outlaws.
The biggest change for 2011 is that workshops will only last one week instead of two weeks. Finalists will be evaluated over the next week in a series of workshops on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Finalists will be interviewed, tested on football knowledge, judged on work ethic during rehearsals and observed on interaction with the other finalists during the process.

We are excited to once again open up our final night of Auditions to the public. Last year we hosted a sold out crowd of 500 and this year we expect the turn out to be even larger so buy your tickets early. The evening is full of entertainment, from the opening group number, to the beautiful kickline sequence, solos by the finalists, performances in groups of 3 on more technical choreography, and a final performance by the new 2011 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. It is a fun night for all ages!

Colorado Ice Icicles Auditions this Sunday
The Colorado Ice will be conducting open auditions for Icicle cheerleaders on Sunday, January 30th, 2011 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the 24 Hour Fitness located at 2208 E.Harmony Road, Fort Collins, CO 80528.
Colorado Icicle cheerleaders are professional dancers that provide exciting and fun entertainment during all Colorado Ice home games. Icicle cheerleaders are also actively involved in the community, taking part in Ice appearances at community events, fundraisers, post-game parties, and other activities throughout Northern Colorado.
Participants must be at least 21 years of age by Feb. 17, 2011, have some dance experience and be able to commit to weekly rehearsals, games and related team functions. Individuals auditioning should wear spandex shorts, tights, a spandex bra top and some type of dance shoes.
Auditions fees are $30 the day of the try-outs and $25 for pre-registered participants if paid by January 27th, 2011. Pre-registered participants may pay with cash, check, or credit card; only cash will be accepted the day of the tryout.
