Venom Vixens - Project Angel Heart Charity Event Blog from Jenna

A few weeks ago, the Venom Vixens took part in Project Angel Heart. My personal experience in this program was truly a one of a kind experience. We decorated bags with warm thoughts to be later delivered with food in them to people in need of our and your help. I had so much fun spending time with my girls and the two Cobra football players who helped out (special thanks to Donny Moore and Jamie Krueger). Who knew we were all so artistic and creative!? We made so many bags so quickly without even knowing it. I highly encourage everyone to go out and participate in any community service project (especially this one). They offer you a chance to give back to our community in the best way possible; by helping those in need.

2009 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Audition Information

Sunday, April 19, 2009
Registration: 11 a.m.
Auditions begin: 12 noon

Preliminary auditions will consist of an “Across the Floor” routine which is four eight counts in length. It will have a right and left kick, a turn (single, double or triple option) and a split leap, along with simple choreography. This will be taught on the spot and performed in groups of 3. After everyone has performed, we will select 100 participants that will go on to the second half of the day.

Round Two allows us to see the 100 participants perform a routine similar to one the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders perform on the field during games. You will be taught a routine that is approximately ten eight counts in length (1 minute) and after several run throughs, you will perform for the judges in groups of three. At the end of Round 2, approximately 60 finalists will be selected.

Tuesday, April 21st and Thursday, April 23rd
The 60 finalists will be divided into two groups of 30 and scheduled for either Tuesday night or Thursday night for their Finalist Workshop. The Workshop will be held in the Cheerleader rehearsal room at the stadium. Each finalist will be required to wear a black spandex workout top and black spandex shorts. You may wear nylons under your shorts and dance shoes are recommended rather than tennis shoes. At the finalist workshop we will be looking at flexibility, across the floor technique, kicks, turns and you will also learn another routine that will be performed at the finals on Sunday, April 26th. There will be cuts made at the Finalist Workshops.

Sunday, April 26th
Finals begin with business interviews in groups of 6. You will be asked questions about the Denver Broncos, the NFL and your Audition Application. Business attire is required. After all of the interviews are complete, all the finalists will change into dance attire of their choice to perform the routine learned at the finalist workshop and four eight counts of their own material. At the end of the day, our 2009 team will be selected.

The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders is one of the premier teams in professional cheerleading. Since 1993, our team has traveled to Japan, Australia, Mexico City, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iraq, Canada, not to mention Calendar photo shoots to Aspen, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and the Rivera Maya. In 2006, our team donated over 1400 hours to charity events throughout Colorado. There are many opportunities available to members of this team, but the most exciting is being on the sidelines cheering for our Denver Broncos.

Thank you again for your interest in our program. I look forward to seeing everyone at auditions on Sunday, April 19, 2009!

BPT Partnership Announcement - Allana's Academy of Dance

I have had a lot of dreams over the years for the Belles Performance Team, and I am excited to announce that one of the biggest ones is finally coming true!

Allana's Academy of Dance is the newest business partner to join the BPT family. Not only will AAD be offering anyone interested one month of free classes (for a one time $20 studio registration fee), AAD will also offer current BPT members 50% off class prices after the free month.

The most special gift of this partnership - AAD will now be the official home of the Belles Performance Team. The Belles will be the exclusive professional adult team at AAD. Practices will now be held at AAD on Thursday nights, starting January 15th, from 7 - 10 pm. Additional weekend events/bootcamps/rehearsals will also be held at AAD. Belles members, studio members, prospective members, and potential business partners will now see the BPT logo in the window and walk into a gorgeous, loft inspired, modern and hip studio where pictures of the Belles will be on the walls, where we will have an official place of business to meet - and where every Belle, past, current and future, will have a comfortable and welcome home. This studio will also allow us to finally start a Jr. Belles program, where we can continue to give back to the community and inspire young dancers.

The new home of the Belles Performance Team is located at 3625 West Bowles Avenue, Unit 17, Littleton, 80123. AAD will be holding an open house this Saturday, January 10, from 2 - 4 pm. Please come by and sign up for your free month of classes or just take a studio tour. It is nothing like you have ever seen from a dance studio before.

Thank you Miss Allana for allowing us to be a part of your lifelong dream! Thank you to all of the ladies who have made us the 1st class organization we are today! I look forward to the exciting possibilities this move forward in the BPT organization's history will bring us.

Looking Ahead

Hello Broncos Country! So I know that we are all wearing big frowns now that our season has come to an end. It’s always hard to envision our lives without football for the next few months. But with the end of a season comes the excitement of preparing for a new one and improving upon our mistakes. And if it makes you feel better, just remember that we are not alone in our sadness – Detroit became the first team in NFL history to go winless and finish 0-16, and both New England, the defending AFC Champions, and Dallas, the preseason Super Bowl favorites, failed to clinch a playoff spot.

And what many people are forgetting is that the Broncos have been playing against some of the league’s biggest talent despite a myriad of injuries. With an appalling number of running backs injured, we still managed to maintain a running game and score two rushing touchdowns in week 17. At the end of the day, not everyone can make the playoffs; but hopefully the disappointment will inspire our team to work vigorously through the off season. And though the season ended on a disheartening note, we can all be proud of the Broncos for prevailing through so much adversity.

When a season comes to an end, it is time for us to look forward; we can bring with us lessons from the mistakes we have made, but we can’t waste our time looking back. As 2009 approaches, the Broncos will now have the opportunity to rest, reenergize, train, improve, and heal those daunting injuries. Having an extra month in the off-season may be just what the Broncos need – the players can use this time to rehabilitate and ameliorate their injuries. They have the desire to improve and make the necessary changes for the 2009 season. There is nowhere to go but up – and that is where the Broncos are going. Something that every football fan looks forward to during the quiet spring months is the NFL draft. And it looks like the Broncos are going to get the opportunity to pick early. We beat out three other teams who also finished 8-8 to get the highest picking rank. In the first round the Broncos will have the number 12 draft pick. Rewind back to 2006 for a moment – the Broncos drafted someone very important with their number 11 pick. Who was that? Oh yes, Jay Cutler! And last year’s number 12 was Ryan Clady!

Though the exact 2009 schedule has not been released, the Broncos already know who they will be facing next season. They are matched up against some tough teams, which is going to make for a very exciting and challenging season! The Broncos are set to play all AFC West teams twice, the NFC East, and the AFC North. Additionally, they will play the number two teams from the remaining AFC divisions (East and South). The match-ups are as follows:

Home: Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants

Away: Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins

As 2008 is coming to a close, I want to thank you all for reading my blog this season and always writing such great responses. I will be sure to write many more blogs throughout the off season. The Cheerleaders continue to work in the community throughout the year, so I will keep you all posted on exciting news from our corner!

Have a safe and happy New Year. Talk to you in 2009!

-Romi (12/30/08)
