Denver Outlaws Dancers host Femme Fridays at Jet

Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Race to Keep Kids on Track date set!

For the second year in a row, Denver Broncos Cheerleaders will race fans in high-speed karts during the 2nd Annual Race to Keep Kids on Track August 14, 2010. Presented by the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, the race and 2011 Calendar Release will raise funds to support The Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect and Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

The event will kick off on August 13 with VIP and cheerleader qualifying time trials at The Track, Centennial, CO, open to event sponsors and VIP guests only. The race and calendar release party will open to the public starting at 5 p.m. on August 14. Local celebrities, Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, and Broncos Alumni will attend the event.

Racers will have a chance to win great prizes and all attendees will receive a complimentary 2011 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Calendar, autographs, food, and beverages.

The inaugural event in 2009 raised $20,000 for Denver Broncos Youth Center at the Denver Rescue Mission and Project PAVE.

The Belles of Pridefest

One of the Belles Performance Teams' favorite events each year is the Denver Pridefest Parade. BPT partner Planet Beach Contempo Spa has an entry every year that gets all ages in attendance smiling, the pink Planet Beach stretch limo is always a welcome sight!





The Planet Beach limo and Ms. Planet Beach Gen-X Colorado Cher Fox (also Owner and Executive Director of the Belles Performance Team) are featured in this year's Pridefest teaser video.



As they did last year, the Belles Performance Team can be seen performing in front of the limousine all along the parade route. In addition, this year, they will be handing out free 2010 Limited Edition Calendars.

The parade begins at Cheesman Park and rolls down Colfax into Civic Center Park. Stay after the parade and enjoy all the fun and entertainment Pridefest has to offer, including Grammy-nominated American female R&B vocal quartet En Vogue. The Belles hope to see you this Sunday, June 20th at 9 am and wish everyone Happy Pride!

Meet the Havoc Hunniez

The semi pro football Colorado Havoc is proud to present the new addition to the Havoc family.

The Havoc Hunniez are the official dance team of the Colorado Havoc and will be ready to perform at the first home game of the 2010 season. The ladies are based out of the Denver area and have danced together for a few years. Havoc welcomes the sweet addition to the program.

Dream Project Auditions Announced

DREAM PROJECT auditions are held once a year in June. Auditions for the 2010/2011 season will be held Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Elite Dance Academy in Broomfield. Auditions are rigorous, but do not require preparation outside of regular dance training. DREAM PROJECT only rehearses on Sundays - which fits thye very busy schedules of these young women who have jobs, families and committments that make them the amazing people they are.

Preliminaries: Saturday, August 14

Semi-Finals: Sunday, August 15

Semi-Finalists Interviews: Monday-Tuesday, August 16-17

Training Camp: Tuesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 19

Finals: Saturday, August 21

Preliminaries, Semi-Finals, Interviews, and Finals will be held at Pepsi Center in downtown Denver. Pepsi Center is located at 1000 Chopper Circle Denver, CO 80204. Training Camp will be held at the Nuggets Dancers practice facility in Denver. Specific location will be announced to finalists on Sunday, August 15.

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado — Megan Brooks has danced ever since she was a little girl, but she never imagined she'd be dancing on the sidelines at Denver Broncos games as a cheerleader.

It's just starting to sink in for Brooks, 21, that she is officially a Broncos cheerleader. The Battle Mountain High School graduate found out Sunday night that she made the team this year after barely losing out for a spot on last year's team.

“A sport like this is something you really have a passion for,” Brooks said.

Brooks said she couldn't have made the Broncos team without her Battle Mountain High School coach, Andrea Glass.

“She made a huge difference,” Brooks said. “I wouldn't be where I am without her.”

Brooks also humbly credits Liz Harris, her dance coach at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she's been dancing since her freshman year. Brooks is applying to physical therapy schools this summer and would likely begin school next fall. She plans to graduate from University of Colorado in December.

While she has aspirations that go well beyond dancing, Brooks just wasn't ready to say good-bye to her dancing career.

“I don't want to stop,” Brooks said. “It's so hard to pursue an actual career in dance.”

Becoming a Broncos cheerleader is about more than just the dancing, though. Brooks said the cheerleaders participate in a lot of promotional and charity events — something she's especially looking forward to doing.

“I'm excited about interacting with the community,” she said. “It's a pretty neat opportunity.”

The Broncos gig is a part-time, paid job, and it comes at a perfect time in Brooks' life. She has just one more semester at school and said she's ready to make the commitment.

There's a big responsibility that goes with cheering on Colorado's beloved pro football team. She's a role model, now, and she said she is ready to be a leader.

“You're a role model for a lot of people [as a Broncos cheerleader],” Brooks said. “I have to be very conscious of what I'm doing at all times — I'm excited to take on that responsibility. I have the character to take that on.”

Brooks' mother, Muffy Brooks, said she's so proud to see her daughter reach the goals that she has set for herself.

“Parents are excited for their children when they're happy,” Muffy Brooks said. “I think it's truly an opportunity.”

Megan Brooks will have her work cut out for her in the coming months — the new job isn't glamorous all the time. She has two full days of training next weekend, and then the team goes into their practice schedule, which is five hours each on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Megan Brooks is ready to do what it takes, she said. She's just happy when she's dancing, and now she has one of the largest stages in which to do it.
