Colorado State alum is a first-year member of the Wild Bunch

Heidi, a first-year dancer with Colorado's Wild Bunch, graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. She also practiced her dancing skills during her time on campus in Fort Collins, CO, making her decision to audition for the Wild Bunch a no-brainer.

"This is an amazing organization and group of women," said Heidi. "I love dancing and the energy and loyalty of the fans, and I wanted to be part of this unique opportunity to be a role model in the community. Plus, who wouldn't want to dance for the Mammoth?"

Heidi, a performing arts marketing and promotions professional, claims that her favorite things to do in Colorado (besides dancing at Mammoth games, of course) include taking in shows at the Denver Performing Arts Complex and trying new restaurants. She currently resides in Aurora, CO.

Heidi says that she values her family, education and friends most in life and "would not be where I am today" without them. Her favorite movies of all-time are Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Godfather, and her dream-car is also straight out of Hollywood: the Batmobile. As for her athletic career, she says that dancing is where it starts and ends.

"I love being active. However, at an early age I learned I should stick to dancing. I run and throw like a girl; it's actually pretty embarrassing."

New Uniforms for the Belles Performance Team

The Belles Performance Team recently expanded their wardrobe with several new uniform pieces produced by the Line Up and rhinestone designed by Executive Director Cher Fox. The Line Up currently produces uniforms for the local Denver Nuggets Dancers and Colorado Mammoth Wild Bunch as well as many other national entertainment teams.

The old crop top received a makeover with new white sleeves to match the team boots. The new navy shorts have a red leather rhinestone buckled belt (the team also has the same belt in white), the new halter top and white shrug are great pieces for variance. The revised crop top and old skirts received updates with hundreds more ruby Swarovski crystals. Hundreds more diamond and ruby crystals were applied to the halters and shrugs, as well as cobalt stones for the shorts. The team is also integrating navy pants that will be seen for the first time on their 5th anniversary poster.

"The team's goal this year was to expand upon our current patriotic image," reveals Fox. "The Line Up produces top quality durable uniforms in the richest colors, we were excited to work with them in 2006 when we bought our first pieces, and they were a natural choice for the revisions and additions the team needed this year." Since the Belles are an independent dance team, new uniform purchases don't happen every year and are a very exciting time for the organization and the community. "The team was proud to share the uniforms for the first time with the community at the 2009 Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade," shares Fox. "The Belles were an amazing hit this year and were confused by the crowd with a couple top NFL cheerleading teams in the nation, which was a huge compliment to our organization and the Line Up."

The Line Up also produces custom performance apparel pieces for teams of all levels and for individual audition needs. Visit the Line Up here.

Free Agency Frenzy!

Hello Broncos Country! Oh my goodness, how exciting has free agency been?! There have been so many interesting trades, and I think Coach McDaniels and the Broncos organization have been doing an awesome job! McDaniels is really getting down to business and making this offseason count! Free Agency officially started on February 27, and from about the first minute, the Broncos started making big plays.

Let’s start off with a rundown of who we’ve acquired so far. I don’t know about you guys, but sometimes I lose track of all the new signings, because there is just so much news coming from every team! So let’s start from the beginning! Our first acquisition was Brian Dawkins from the Philadelphia Eagles, who signed a 2-year contract. Dawkins is a powerhouse safety and has been selected to the Pro Bowl seven times – this is just what our defense needs! The day after signing Dawkins, the Broncos added three more unrestricted free-agents to the roster: Correll Buckhalter, Jabar Gaffney, and Lonie Paxton. Buckhalter is a running back, who also comes from the Philadelphia Eagles. Gaffney is a wide receiver from the New England Patriots, and Paxton is a long snapper, also from the Patriots (so I’m guessing Coach knows a few secrets about these two!!)

Immediately after hearing the announcements of the signings, I simply had to find out a little more about these new players that will be sporting our fabulous orange and blue this fall. And after reading up on them, I am so excited to see what they are going to produce on the field! They are all talented, experienced players of the highest caliber. Buckhalter comes to Denver for his ninth season, having played the first eight with the Eagles. And last season, he played 14 of the 16 games. Gaffney joins Denver in his eighth season, previously playing for New England and the Houston Texans. Gaffney had playing time in all 16 games in 2008, and in 2007, he appeared in every game, assisting the team in reaching the first 16-0 record in NFL history — sounds good to me!! Paxton, also from the Patriots, will join the Broncos for his 10th season. He played 155 games for the Patriots, helping the team win three Super Bowls, six division titles and eight winning seasons out of the nine years he was there. And he has not missed a game in the last five seasons — now that’s a dedicated player!

After signing three offensive players, the Broncos switched their focus to the defensive side of the ball the next day, adding three more players. Andra Davis, linebacker from the Cleveland Browns, will be joining us as he enters his eighth season in the league. Renaldo Hill, safety from the Miami Dolphins, will be in his ninth season as he becomes a Bronco. And Darrell Reid, defensive tackle from Indianapolis, comes to Denver in his fifth year, spending his first four season with the Colts.

But the signings don’t stop there! The next day, the Broncos added two more noteworthy players to the list of acquired free agents: Andre’ Goodman and Ronnie Fields. Goodman is a cornerback who played for the Miami Dolphins and the Detroit Lions. Fields is a defensive tackle from the San Francisco 49ers who joins the Broncos after spending his first four years with the 49ers. And good news here – he played under Mike Nolan, who is now our defensive coordinator!!

And sending the free agent count into double digits, LaMont Jordan becomes the 10th player to be signed by the Broncos in less than a week! Jordan spent three years with the Raiders, four with Jets and last year in New England, making him another new player who is familiar with McDaniels’ system.

Well that sure is an impressive list! I am very excited about all of our new acquisitions, and I think they will bring a very important aspect to the Broncos that we have been lacking – veteran leadership. The Broncos are a young team that is tremendously talented and exceptionally strong. The young energy on the team is most definitely a huge factor in the future success of the Broncos. But with this energy and passion, a team must also have a nucleus of experience and knowledge. When combined, these two dimensions create a perfect balance –- a balance that, throughout history, has been a characteristic of all teams who have achieved truly monumental success. The players we have attained in free agency thus far are all highly respected in their positions, each bringing to the Broncos their own wisdom and leadership and each helping to create that perfect balance here in Denver. I believe all of these players will play a pivotal role in the 2009 season and will be a great complement to Cutler, Marshall, Royal, and many others who make up the young core of this team. I cannot wait to see all the progress this offseason and watch how all of these players work together to become a powerful and motivated team.

I’m sure there will be much more news to come with the rest of free agency, and I can’t wait to see what happens next! What are all of your thoughts on the next moves we should make???

Have a wonderful day!!

2009 Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Audition Information

Please read thoroughly! There have been some changes to the Audition Process for 2009!

Sunday, April 19, 2009
Registration: 11 a.m.
Auditions begin: 12 noon

Preliminary auditions will consist of an “Across the Floor” routine which is four eight counts in length. It will have a right and left kick, a turn (single, double or triple option) and a split leap, along with simple choreography. This will be taught on the spot and performed in groups of three. After everyone has performed, we will select 100 participants that will go on to the second half of the day.

Round Two allows us to see the 100 participants perform a routine similar to one the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders perform on the field during games. You will be taught a routine that is approximately ten eight counts in length (1 minute) and after several run throughs, you will perform for the judges in groups of three. At the end of Round 2, approximately 60 finalists will be selected.

Tuesday, April 21st, Thursday, April 23rd, Tuesday April 28th and Thursday, April 30th
The 60 finalists will be divided into two groups of 30 and scheduled for either Tuesday nights or Thursday nights for their Finalist Workshops. The Workshops will be held in the Cheerleader rehearsal room at the stadium. Each finalist will be required to wear a black spandex workout top and black spandex shorts. You may wear nylons under your shorts and dance shoes are recommended rather than tennis shoes. At the finalist workshop we will be looking at flexibility, across the floor technique, kicks, turns and you will also learn routines that will be performed at the finals on Saturday, May 2nd.

Saturday, May 2, 2009 - 6:00 p.m.
Finals of the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Auditions will be open to the public and held at the University of Denver Davis Auditorium Theater. Tickets for this event will go on sale mid-March. More detailed information will be distributed to our 60 finalists on Sunday, April 19th. Please call the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders office if you have specific questions 720-258-3181.

The Denver Broncos Cheerleaders is one of the premier teams in professional cheerleading. Since 1993, our team has traveled to Japan, Australia, Mexico City, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iraq, Canada, not to mention Calendar photo shoots to Aspen, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and the Rivera Maya. In 2006, our team donated over 1400 hours to charity events throughout Colorado. There are many opportunities available to members of this team, but the most exciting is being on the sidelines cheering for our Denver Broncos.

Thank you again for your interest in our program. I look forward to seeing everyone at auditions on Sunday, April 19, 2009!
