It’s the most wonderful time of the year…again!

Well, it is nearly the end of November and the Denver Broncos only have two home games left this season. With four games away from home of the final six remaining this season we need all of the fan support and enthusiasm we can get! Are any of you planning to make it to any of the road games?

This year Thanksgiving was a beautiful celebration with family and friends. I hope that all of you were able to bring in the holiday season with some of the same experiences. Last year I started a baking tradition with the women in my life. I carried it on this year and made apple pie from scratch — crust and all. The preparation portion was fun, and the end product is always one of the best parts, but I think one of the things I enjoy most about the process is taking advantage of the time with my mother and grandmother who both live here in Colorado. It is refreshing to bring in the holiday with people who have sincerely impacted your life.

Thanksgiving morning I ran the Turkey Trot in Washington Park with several friends. The course was beautiful and people got pretty into the race by dressing up. It was certainly a memorable experience. Do any of you have interesting Thanksgiving traditions?

One of the things I am continually surprised about with the coming of the holiday season is how quickly people start moving. Some individuals were up at about 4 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving to get some of their holiday shopping started. And many of my neighbors already have their houses decked out in Christmas spirit. With Christmas trees strapped to the tops of cars and holiday music on the radio, I think many start to feel the pressure of 2008 just around the corner.

Well, with the Christmas season on the rise I should make note that our team will be selling and signing our calendars at various locations around Colorado for every weekend in December. As soon as I get the list of who will be where and when, I will post; it would be great to meet all of you consistent bloggers while your doing some of your holiday shopping!

Our team recently received some very exciting news. Every year our team nominates one woman to attend the Pro Bowl to represent the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders in Hawaii. This year’s representative is Jenn Kelly — a beautiful, inspirational, positive, and talented woman.



Only 15 women have ever been invited to attend the Pro Bowl to represent the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders (DBC), so not only is the invitation an irreplaceable opportunity, but I think it is always humbling to be voted into a circumstance or situation because of your character, and that is exactly why Jenn will represent the DBC; she has a beautiful spirit and a very sincere character.

One of her most recent projects has been putting together Christmas gifts for our troops overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. If any of you see her at a promotion or charity in the coming months, please be sure to share your warm congratulations with her!

A Perfect Night for MNF!

Wow, what a change. Last night’s game against the Tennessee Titans contrasted drastically against the previous two home games. At the Green Bay game, there was more green and yellow in the stands than I would prefer to see at a Broncos home game. Against Pittsburgh, I saw too many Terrible Towels being waved in the air.

However, the moment I walked onto the field last night, it felt different. I could tell there was a lot of excitement in the air. After the Broncos came off a great away win against Kansas City, Broncos Nation was pumped. Right before the Broncos took the field the fans were going crazy. Almost every seat in the house had an orange pom pom and was waving it in the air. I could tell that our fans were back and in full force.

The Broncos organization ran a huge campaign last week – wear it loud and wear it proud! And they did. Prior to the game, I was in the Broncos Barn tent where I was greeted with many enthusiastic fans. I saw fans with spray-painted hair, orange and blue faces, encouraging signs, and plenty of energy. They were ready for another Broncos win.

The evening proved to be quite exciting as the Broncos took the lead and held onto it. Going into Thanksgiving week, this gives us all something to be thankful for.

Fans, continue to wear it loud and proud. I know your support reflects down onto the field and affects the players. Cheer them on; get excited! This season is not over yet!

The John Lynch Show

Have any of you have seen the Qwest John Lynch Live show at Old Chicago in Littleton? Tonight was my first time attending the show and I had a blast! Every week John Lynch and CBS4’s Vic Lombardi put on a show with Broncos highlights and guest speakers. They select one cheerleader per week to introduce the show as well as introduce the guest speaker. Tonight’s guest was tight end, long snapper, and the emergency QB, Mike Leach.

This was my first taste of broadcast journalism. I was a math major in college so I didn’t spend a lot of time in front of a camera. However, I’ve have had to get used to being in front of a camera since becoming a Broncos Cheerleader. You never know when a camera might come your way at a game or if there’s going to be a speaking opportunity at a promotion or charity. This keeps me on my toes!

Great newscasters like Vic Lombardi make taking in front of a camera look easy! Sure talking is easy, but add multiple cameras, lights, a loud crowd, and nerves and it ends up being a bit more difficult than one would think! Hopefully I hid my nerves, but I definitely have a lot more respect for the people who do this for a living.

The staff at CBS4 was wonderful — they set me up with a headset and helped me practice my lines before going live. They made me feel very comfortable and I am thankful for all their help. And the fans in the audience were great — very enthusiastic and eager to chat. I was happy to have met some of Denver’s longest and most avid Broncos fans. This was definitely a fun experience!

Flashback Photo - Mork

This episode of Mork & Mindy aired in November 1979 in which Mork tried out for and made the Pony Express (Denver Broncos Cheerleaders).

Synopsis: While dejected Mork is confessing to Mindy that he has lost another job, eighty Pony Express cheerleaders drop in at Remo's deli. Impressed that the girls are paid to cheer up people, Mork asks for a job and they suggest that he apply at the Broncos' headquarters. A couple of the cheerleaders even coach him in their routines.

Upon returning from Denver, Mork reports that his application was filed in a wastebasket. Mindy's cousin, Nelson, takes up this case of sex discrimination as his election campaign platform, beginning by getting himself and Mork interviewed on television. Mork creates a high-altitude uproar when he joins the stunning women of the Denver Broncos' Pony Express as pro football's first male cheerleader and prances before 70,000 cheering fans in Denver's Mile High Stadium.

Halloween Memories

Fall is always a fun time of year. The leaves are changing color and the air is crisp outside. It’s the perfect time to gather around with family for spiced cider and pumpkin pie. And of course to watch football AND the World Series!!

I also love fall because of Halloween. I have so many wonderful memories of trick-or-treating with my little sister in the streets near my house. When I was about 8 years old, I was a bit of a goofy kid. My hair was always a mess and I had dirt stains on my clothes from playing outside all the time. While most girls were playing with Barbies, I was climbing trees outdoors and coming up with imaginary games which involved saving the world. Halloween, though, was time to play dress up and a time to transform into something beautiful. One of my favorite Halloween costumes was when I was a mermaid. I wore a long blond wig with flowing hair and put on red lipstick for the first time. I wore a shimmery outfit with green sequins for the scales, and clear high heels for my feet. I enjoyed going around to the neighbors and collecting as much candy as possible!!

Everyone has their own unique memories from Halloween. I asked a couple of the other Broncos Cheerleaders to tell me about their special Halloween memory. Here’s what they said:

“My favorite thing about Halloween has always been my family’s tradition to feast on my mom’s homemade chili and hot cider after a chilly evening of trick-or-treating. Today, the members of my family live in different cities but we keep the tradition alive by each making our own version of mom’s chili on Halloween night. My husband and I have started our own annual tradition of sharing my family’s special Halloween chili with a great group of friends while passing out candy to trick-or-treaters.” — Shelby Britton

“Last year I was searching for a silly costume that no one else would duplicate. So I went to a vintage shop up in Boulder and found the perfect prom dress from the ’80s. I accompanied it with a tiara, some leggings, and high top shoes and the perfect ’80s prom queen outfit was born!! I’ve always loved dressing up for halloween! I’ve been everything from a big pumpkin to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to the Joker from the Batman movies!” — Romi Bean

“When I was little I used to love skunks. I didn’t understand the whole concept of growing up, and when I was little I would tell my parents that I wanted to be a skunk when I was older. When Halloween rolled around, a skunk was the number one choice for me! I wore a little black outfit with a hood, tail, and that long white stripe from top to bottom. But, I also couldn’t pronounce the word correctly at that age, so I kept telling everyone that I was a ’stunk’ instead of a ’skunk’!” — Katie Layman

“My favorite memories from Halloween are from when I was younger. My mom, sister and I always dressed up, took pictures, and went trick-or-treating for the evening. It was also fun to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters who came to our door. It was such an exciting time of year! It was so special to always be able to celebrate this holiday together, and even today I look back warmly on these fond memories!” — Jamie Dukehart-Conti

“The church I grew up in would always host an alternative Halloween celebration for kids in the community. The carnival-like atmosphere included lots of games, booths, and food. In high school, I volunteered to work at game booths a couple of times. It was so much fun - all of the little kids were dressed up in the cutest costumes (no scary costumes were allowed.) I would always use my dance outfits as last-minute costumes. One year I wore a tutu and my pointe shoes and kids and their parents alike would be amazed that I could stand on my tip-toes!” — Valerie Scott

Wild Bunch Revived - NLL, PLPA REACH SEVEN-YEAR DEAL

New 2008 schedule expected to be released next week

The NLL and the players' association agreed to a long-term Collective Bargaining Agreement, which begins in 2008 and runs through the 2014 season.The National Lacrosse League has announced the reaching of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Professional Lacrosse Player's Association. The agreement is a seven-year term that begins in 2008 and run through the 2014 season. The agreement marks the longest labor deal in the 22-year history of professional indoor lacrosse. The league's previous three-year agreement with the PLPA expired following the 2007 season.

"Reaching a long-term collective bargaining agreement with the players was our number one priority in this process", said NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings. "We've been building positive growth in the league over the past few years. Securing long-term labor peace puts us in a position to take our league to the next level."

The agreement also means that professional indoor lacrosse will be played in 2008. When a new CBA had not reached by the league's deadline last week, the 2008 season was canceled. A new schedule for the 2008 National Lacrosse League season is expected to be announced next week.

With Sarah Schachterle's retirement from the Wild Bunch's Director position, several year member Stacia Boley will be preparing the dancers for the 2008 season.

Midwest Spirit Battle at the Capital This Weekend

The Denver Coliseum will host Midwest Spirit's Battle at the Capital Cheerleading and Dance Competition this Saturday, October 27th, starting at 10:30 am.



The Belles Performance Team will be assisting with the production of this event and will also provide the finale entertainment and host the trophy ceremonies. It's starting to get cold outside, so warm up this Saturday with some spirit and excitement at the Denver Coliseum!

The BPT Rock Texas

The Belles Performance Team returned from attending the Ft. Worth Alliance Air Show this past weeked with excitement and fond memories. Over 200,000 aviation enthusiasts attended the show and many stopped to see the BPT perform dance routines that spanned in music from the 1960's to today.


The Navy Blue Angels were flying overhead. This was the best spot to view the show!

The BPT were a special hit at Saturday nights VIP Ramp party, where they performed for many of the military personnel that were performing and exhibiting at the show. Pilots from the Navy Blue Angels and the Army Sky Soldiers were in attendance. This was truly the Top Gun of today's military pilots. Each branch of the armed forces gave the BPT members pins, stickers and patches, trying to brand them as their own.

"It was a small USO style performance," states Cher Fox, BPT Owner and Executive Director, "but the personnel kept yelling for encore after encore! It was really a unique and exciting opportunity for the BPT, one I will never forget!"

Sunday, the BPT spent the day with the crew of the hybrid helicopter/plane, the Osprey, featured in last week's smash DVD release The Transformers. They assisted the crew with merchandise sales, performed for the hundreds of people standing in line to tour the unique aircraft, took pictures on and around the aircraft and shot a high definition video of the BPT performing in front of the Osprey. What a day!

Monday morning, Southwest Academy welcomed the BPT to talk about the organization and perform for the students. Although most of the students were strict Dallas Cowboys fans, they engaged in Q & A with the Belles on topics such as dancer biographies and the planes featured on the BPT's 2007 aviation themed poster. After 2 performances which left one student speechless and "without comment it was so good", the BPT autographed the posters and wished the students well with the rest of their school day.


Southwest Academy Visit and Performance

"This trip was especially close to my heart," comments Cher. "My parents, Joe and Cae Sullivan, hosted the team for the weekend and my nephew attends Southwest Academy, so it was an honor to share my passion and love of dance with him and his fellow students. He was so proud to have us there, he could barely find the courage and words to introduce us! That is him in the front row on the right proudly displaying our poster. Thanks Mom and Dad for the slumber party!"

The Belles plan to repeat this exciting event when they attend the Aviation Nation Airshow in Las Vegas the weekend of Veteran's Day in November.
