Pick Up Mile High Sports Magazine!

Eagles season ticket holders got a sneak-peek at the October, hockey edition of Mile High Sports Magazine when they picked up their tickets earlier this week, and they were likely pleasantly surprised to see veteran Eagles Chick Alyssa as the "Girl In Your Corner" for this month's hockey-themed issue. In addition to Alyssa gracing the pages, the magazine asked several Denver sports personalities to weigh in on the state of hockey in Colorado -- including the Colorado Eagles.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the October issue of Mile High Sports Magazine today, and keep an eye out for December's "Snow Angel" issue when another popular Eagles Chick will be featured!

The "Girl in Your Corner" feature profiles local ladies involved in Colorado's athletic community. This month's girl, Alyssa, is entering her fifth year as a Pioneer Press Eagles Chick. Be sure to get your copy of MHSM at local newsstands and check them out online at www.milehighsports.com.

Colorado Mammoth Wild Bunch 2011 Auditions

Colorado Mammoth lacrosse players prepare for the 2011 season ahead while their Wild Bunch dance team holds annual tryouts. This past weekend at the Pepsi Center over 70 talented dancers auditioned in hopes of making the final 14.

Coach, Amy Jo Wagner puts each girl to the test in search for Denver’s most entertaining women for the Mammoth fans. These professional dancers are important to improve the performance of the players and to pep up the fans.

After Saturday’s challenging routine rehearsal only 21 girls moved on. On Sunday, the second day of the tryout process, the remaining girls were interviewed and got their headshots for the 2011 season roster. The remaining 21 girls proceed to the next step continuing onto the Wild Bunch training camp to narrow down the team to the final number of 14 girls. Nonetheless the Wild Bunch semi-finalists are looking good in their sports bras and dance shorts and are bound to excite the crowd this spring.

Rivalry Renewed

Hey Broncos fans!

I’m Amanda, and this is my third season as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader. Although, I’ve been a cheerleader for three years, I have been a Broncos fan my whole life.

Many fans wonder if we all really love to watch football, and it’s true, we do! I’ve been lucky enough to have attended many games before I was on the team. The home games are always amazing, but every away game is just as important as the homes games!

There are definitely two teams I feel we ALWAYS want to beat, home or away. Of course, they are two teams in our division — the Chargers and this week’s opponent, the Raiders.

Fans, are you ready for Raider week?! The Raiders will be coming into our house this weekend and we all know it’s going to be a wild game.

The rivalry between us and the Raiders goes back a ways — most remember it going back to a key game in 1977. John Madden, who was coach for the Raiders back then, credits a lot of the rivalry to our Orange Crush fan base. And how the fans were truly so loud and fanatical that it would really mess with the team’s head.

That energy and emotion in our fans really counts on game day. Not only does it pump up the Broncos when we are on defense, but it is always a reminder of the rivalry we’ve had for so long, and how important it is to beat the Raiders.

As a DBC, we are so fortunate to experience so many different things that make us feel so lucky. Last season we were given the opportunity to go to an away Raiders game.

It was such an amazing experience to go watch the Broncos beat the Raiders in their stadium. We all play a part in game day, and you, the fans are our most important part in how we set the tone for that day. So get your Raider-hater shirt on for Sunday, do your favorite pre-game ritual, and get ready for the rivalry to continue.

GO BRONCOS!

- Amanda
